Process management solutions | ISM 650 Information Systems Project Methodologies I | Ashford University

Roderick and Maria are systems analysts with many years of systems development experience at a large firm. Vivian has recently been hired as the company’s first ever process manager. She has been reviewing the company’s past practices of systems development with the intent of trying to establish a formal systems development process for the company. Roderick has been a long-time proponent of the waterfall approach to systems development. Maria has been a big proponent of the agile development approach. Both are known to be very opinionated on the tools and techniques that should be used for systems development projects and both are lobbying Vivian very hard to adopt their preferred techniques. Vivian is unsure of which method to choose, so she asks you to help.

In your paper,

  • Discuss the factors that Vivian should consider when establishing a process management solution.
  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the waterfall approach versus the agile approach.
  • Describe the business needs that would be best supported by both the waterfall and agile approach.
  • Select the process that you would lean toward using, and defend your choice.

Your paper must be 900 to 1200 words in length (not including title and reference pages) and must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Contextual (Level One) headings must be used to organize your paper and your thoughts. You must cite at least two scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library in addition to the textbook.
