Construct, write, and develop a critical, sociologically imaginative essay (minimum 5 pages).  How many U.S. Senators in California?  Who are they?  How many House representatives does California have?  What political party/parties are a majority in California politics at the state level?  at the national level?   How many total in all of the U.S.?   How are the number of House of Representatives decided?   How is the United States a representative government?  What role does government play in the daily lives of people living in the United States (citizens and non-citizens alike).
Select one issue on the California ballot.  This “issue” can be a proposition or a candidate for a statewide, national, or judicial office.  Exercise your sociological imagination and apply the paradigms, structural functionalism, social conflict perspective, and symbolic interaction to your analysis.
